25 OctBeer’n'Stuff

We went & brewed beer this morning as part of a thing we’re doing for work (we’re naming it “Taxonomic Impediment”). Holy crap, brewing beer is fun. Need to find childcare so we can go back & cap in two weeks. Almost makes me wish I liked drinking beer. It’s all the fun parts of making tea & baking bread all smooshed together into a slightly different end result! I really should have asked if they do meade at that place, because that I could *really* get into.

On the way home, we stopped in the costume shop to pick up some stuff so M2 could be a vampire-fairy for Halloween. Heh. P had just enough of a good buzz-on that he was quite amenable to buying whatever caught his eye. On the upside, today I was feeling relatively fiscally responsible so we got out without *too* much damage. I was going to have M2 just wear her current fairy wings, but… we saw these black feathered wings &… it just seemed like the right thing to do. She was some kind of pissed when we wouldn’t let her wear them to this afternoon’s b-day party.

Last Monday was the first Girl Scout mtg. I think M2 might be crashing a Brownie-Jr. Girl Scout troop. The leaders seem amenable to it, but if the Daisy Scout schedule & timing works out, I might switch her over to that… I kinda hope it does work out. There’s enough developmentally different between the two/three age groups that I think it might be best if she’s with other little girls her own age… Over all it was a success though. Both monkeys had lots of fun & they’re excited to go back for the next meeting.

So now the girls are at this afternoon b’day party & I don’t think we really have anything on our plates. Speaking of bread & tea, I suppose I should start this week’s batch of whatever breads I’m going to be making (thinking cinnamon-raisin E. muffins &… something)… I guess there’s my plan for me. But as I think I’ve pointed out before, making bread takes like a half hour (not so much E. muffins as they have a somewhat more complicated baking process than most), it’s the waiting for the bread to do it’s thing that takes all the time… But, best to go get it started, I guess…
