Lovely
Today we took a belated anniversary day to play hooky (or did we take a hooky day to celebrate our belated anniversary? I am confused about these things, clearly because of the heat).
After P dropped the girls off at Auntie’s, we went downtown to The Market to pick up our favorite Kashmiri curry & some Ancho chili powder. Nom. We had some time to kill & had already paid for parking & ventured past the crazy Bible people, so we marched ourselves a little further up & further in and spent a Very Long Time at Left Bank Books. It was not an inexpensive visit, but I have more entertaining reading — a book on colony collapse disorder [bee stuff], a book on eradicating front lawns and replacing them with functional gardens, and a Voltairine de Cleyre reader. I saw some local history stuff that would have been entertaining as well (a history of the local utopias, various books on local labor history, more alternative urban gardening practices, and all the usual suspects one would find at Left Bank).
We went to Ballard next, lunch time. There we drove past the place that offers tours of the Deadliest Catch boat/s — we spent the next fifteen or so minutes discussing whether or not we’d be able to get an autographed photo of Edgar for Muffy Bolding. Suppose at some point we might have to look further into that. Heh.
After lunch, we marched ourselves around Ballard proper & went to Archie McPhee’s & bought entertaining things. Then we went to Sonic Boom & P bought some entertaining things. Then we went to Cupcake Royalle & had cupcakes. Nom.
After that we came home and acted like an old married couple (we took naps, one on one couch, one on the other across the room — *way* too hot for snuggling, much less anything else). The little girls came home & we went to the beach by my folks’ house & sat at the edge of the water, had a light dinner & enjoyed the lovely evening breeze coming off the water while the little girls played in the water. We watched the Very Full Moon rise. Very very nice and served the purpose of tiring the girls out quite thoroughly & they are happily snuggled down fast asleep.
Yes. Very pleasant. Need another couple of those now…
