Now THAT’S What I’m Talkin’ About!
I started out the day by going out & finishing the rest of my Xmas shopping. I’m not a very good little consumer, but I admit, there’s very little I like more than ambling around the odd little shops that pop up out of nowhere, looking for the perfect thing that will sometimes materialize out of thin air for someone. They’re probably there all along, but I spend so little time really looking at stuff to buy that it all seems very strange and serendipitous and fun.
I got home, and barely had time to stash my serendipitous last minute gifts before my mom showed up to hand off some gifts to my aunt who was apparently stopping by too. So since we won’t be seeing her on Xmas, we got to open our gifts from her.
Then it was cookie time. We made rum & bourbon balls. Love them, but damn they’re a pain in the ass. But… I love them anyway. Then we made coconut macaroons. Now the girls are frosting ginger bread cookies. Last weekend they made sugar cookies (and brought them all home with them!) with Gramma & Grampa. We have *so* many cookies in the house right now. Really, it’s just not right.
While the girls were frosting, we decided it was time to bust out the brie. We baked the brie & had it on my favorite rice crackers. Ohhh, I am so full. And so tired. I was going to make meatloaf for dinner, but I’ve lost any inspiration to do anything but prop myself in a corner & take a short, or not so short, winter’s nap.
First day of 11 days off — it has been spent decadently thus far. Which is as it should be.
