Before I’m on the go again. So far today, I’ve made lunch, made the pumpkin gnocchi for dinner, roasted a head of garlic so I have roasted garlic paste for the sauce, cleaned a lot of chanterelles, mixed up the sourdough starter, washed a lot of dishes… I think I’ve done more than that, but I can’t actually remember. Soon I have to go get dressed, clean the fish tanks, at 3:30 I need to start making the rolls for dinner, at 4 my brother & his lovely bride are coming over for food & music. I want a nap, but I don’t think it’s going to happen today.

Those of you that read P’s blog have already heard our tale of woe, but now it’s my turn to whine. We planned to take yesterday off — I actually took the day off work, M1 was going to be in school, then had a play date with a little friend until 7:30pm, M2 was going to be with Auntie and we were going to be child free for an entire, decadent six hours for the first time since 2006! 8:30 am: Auntie calls & says she has a sore throat & can’t take M2 for the day.

End result, I logged on, worked for a couple hours & finished off the the week. We eventually got kicked out of the house by someone wanting to view it, so we went up & bought more ink for the printer, then we went way out of our usual way & bought me some lovely imported French tea. Tea snobs will be disinterested when they find out that they’re heavily flavored, but I don’t care — it’s *good* tea for starters & secondly anyone that would whine about a good earl grey with hints of tangerine & lime? Well, not really worth discussing tea with them anyway. I do understand that the pear & caramel tea is just plain too sweet & over the top for some people, but it’s a treat. OM NOM NOM NOM.

Then we came home, printed up all of the new job paperwork & filled out all his forms & ate P’s homemade chili. Instead of hamburger, we use stew meat, throw it in the crock pot & oh, tenderest stew meat *evar*. Again, in the words of my… well, whatever. OM NOM NOM NOM.

P went off to a concert, I went off to pick up M1. M1’s friend’s mommy asked with glowing eyes about how our day off was. I told her. She said, “Ohhhhh, nooooooo… You need to call me!” It hadn’t occurred to me until she mentioned it that it was an option. We really like the mommy & daddy of M1’s little friend. They’re all very sweet.

So… it wasn’t really the day we planned. Some day.

Today the little girls are tired & bicker-y unless I have them occupied helping me do things. Of course, doing things with “help” takes twice as much effort. But then when they’re not “helping”, they’re destroying the house and so the otherwise saved effort is spent attempting to undestroy. This may not fully explain why I want a nap at the moment, but it goes a long way…

I guess it’s time to get back at it.
