16 SepNine While Nine & I’m Waiting

Or nine years ago I was waiting, betwixt long long long & inefficient first time contractions & I’d been waiting for a long time by then. In one hour & fifty-four minutes (12:11), M1 will be exactly nine years old.

I can’t believe it. My sweet lamb-y baby (M2 is my goat-girl) — 9. Right now she’s dancing around the living room to some Iron Maiden song. Last night she was trying to tell me which song was her favorite Sisters of Mercy song (I’m still not entirely sure — I *think* it’s on Floodland, but from the description, heh, it could nearly be any of them). I love her diverse taste in music — she’s as happy listening to all that as she is Hannah Montana (no, I am old — I have NO idea), the Dixie Chicks, & Gillian Welch. On her wish list for presents this year, on the same line, she requested “Iron Maidon and Hannah Montana”. P was laughing so hard at the juxtaposition — the not even a separate line — that he bought both & insisted I wrap them together back to back. We also bought her an iPod shuffle (why does she get all the cool new techmology?). We’re not entirely sure she actually comprehends the concept of what an iPod is & how they work, but we’ll see.

Last week she was so excited. Apparently her new music teacher for this year is a drummer in a local band. He took them all into the school’s band room & every one got a chance to sit behind the kit & play them. She thought that was pretty dang awesome. My rock girl. My rock *girls* (as M2 skips around the living room singing along with Maiden’s “A Brave New World”).

Time to get on with The Day. Lots going on & it’s time to get to it…
