Father’s Day

Was a day of Fatherly things. First, P managed to pry me from bed. We opened presents (M1 made something for him in school, M1 & M2 got him a gift card for Barnes & Noble, & I got him a pint of scotch since I couldn’t arrange for someone to make an offer on the house). Then we got on the road and down to the store for some bug bite stuff (M2 & I are covered in bug bites, P & M1 are bug bite free — it is not fair, I tell you) & some guy drives by, rolls down his window & says, “Lady, your back tire is entirely flat.” Well so it is. Damn. So I went into the store for bug bite stuff while P started trying to change my tire. Eventually, after going into same said store for WD-40, he got me changed on to my spare (which thankfully was not flat itself). Then we drove home & changed out cars & he washed off the manly-man oil & sweat (oh, teh hawt!) & proceeded with our day.

We went to the house from yesterday’s post & prepared hamburger fixin’s & went to auntie’s house for the Father’s Day gathering there. M1 pointed out this is the first Father’s Day without Gramma H. She was conspicuously absent, indeed. As goodbyes came around it was mostly, “Well, see you in 10 days… unfortunately…” On the upside, I am at the ripe old age of [mumbledy-mumble-schmer-mumble] and today my Dad showed me, using my own phone, how to text message my brother. My Dad is soooo cool. Of course, he’s like, “I don’t know why you’d want to bother doing that. Just call them, or email them.” Um, Dad? You have a blackberry, I don’t have email on this phone. “Oh, yeah. I like my blackberry. Now when you get M1 a cell phone, my opinion on texting aside, you’ll want to get the unlimited texting plan as, for your purposes, it will be the best pricing option…” I can’t say that’s his best advice evar because he’s actually had lots of good advice over the years, but I suspect that’s going to be fairly high up there, realistically speaking in the eventual future…

Then we came home & watch a couple episodes of Man vs. Wild (EEE! New tv boyfriend!) & finished off the dvd of Eddie Izzard. Manliness abounded around this house of chicks all day (the two bettas don’t count & maude only knows what the other fish are, nor does TimTheCat as he’s neutered & has the girliest mew I’ve ever heard on a cat).

So. Any of youse wanna buy a house?
