So I Kept Busy Today
Got a call last night that Gramma was very sick & likely in her last week of life so if I wanted to visit, I needed to do it in short order. Got a call this morning, 7:45 ayem that she’d shed this mortal coil…
So today it was work & work & work & stuff & work. M1 had a school concert tonight. She was a *very* cute sloth. It’s a little late to upload pix now, so you’ll have to trust me.
At the end of this very long day, I’ve come to the rationalization that it was actually a mercifully quick death, considering what sometimes happens. She’s out of her pain now. My family, being my family, has planned a grave side memorial & then a family reunion at the end of the month/beginning of July on a weekend that works for everyone, because you know in the meantime, life just keeps chuggin’ along.
M1 handled it very very well. I told her this morning before school after I got done with all the calls I needed to make. She momentarily screwed up her face funny like she couldn’t figure out quite what to do with it… Then she decided not to cry or something. Admittedly she was very excited about the school concert. She started trying to explain to M2 who was more interested in something else, a bug bite on her leg, I think. I reminded her that M2 was a little young to really “get” it. M1 says, “Oh yeah. When Gramma J died, I was too young to really know what all the adults were talking about, but now I understand. M2 wouldn’t really get it, would she?” I thought bedtime would be more difficult than it was, but she was still on her school concert performance excitement.
The rest of the day was kind of a blur of work silliness. Eventually I got some stuff accomplished though. Tomorrow it’s back to the routine, & hoping someone stops by to look at our freaking house. But now, bath & sleep. Sleep will be good. Kept myself busy & now I’m so tired…
