Ok. I got a bunch of stuff done in the front gardens today. I’m already starting to feel the pain from awkward positions & doing the “ground is damp” squat. The gardens on the left are tidied up. I was going to thin the mallow, but then I ended up putting about a quarter of the daisies along the driveway instead of over with the mallow. I did put some calendula over there though. And I re-staked the rosemary so it wasn’t falling over into the miniature lilac bush. I took the little fence from around the lilac — the neighbor toy poodle that decided the lilac was good to scratch against died last summer so it’s amazing how much happier the lilac is this year. No more shoulder high weeds anywhere either. I repotted the fleeing thyme, weeded the oregano patch, did a little trimming on the rosemary closest to the door… On the other side, started at the far side, and weeded through the daisy & calendula patch, I started by the door & worked toward him, clearing out the dying stuff under the poppies, weeding the hydrangea pot, moving one of the calendula plants… eventually I got the hydrangea plant M2 got me for Mother’s Day planted. I’d have taken the one out of the big pot as it’s a more established plant, but I was afraid if I took it out, the pot would fall to pieces without it. It looks a little funny to have a small hydrangea with a solitary Big Blue Flower in the middle of a (substantially thinned) daisy patch, but, eh. That side still needs some work, but it’s getting there. After all that work I cleaned everything up, turned around and realized I never got to the stuff that needs to be done around the base of the pear tree & the small garden up by the front gate. Oh well. It’s supposed to rain tonight & tomorrow, but maybe if it’s not raining tomorrow I can go take care of some of that stuff. Not that there’s room in our yardwaste bin at this point between the grass mowing & weeding today.
Been spinning this evening. It’s been nice and smooth for me — so I’m going to go back to it. I love it when I can just sit down and let something flow like that…
