The Velveteen Rabbit — a PSA

Do not get this flu. It is evil & wicked. I want to burn everything in the house & start over. Lysol & washing all bedding, pjs, etc in hot/warm water will have to suffice.

M1 got sick again starting late Sunday night/Monday morning. It started out with about six hours of puking every 15 minutes, then another few hours of puking every hour on the hour, and then tapering down from there. At this point the last time she puked was midnight last night. I’m hoping she’s over the puking. I think it’s almost her nap time.

Then last night P came down with it. The bigger you are, the harder you fall. Suffice to say he’s passed out on the couch. I’ll leave him to describe his own ordeal when & if he sees fit. It was ugly. And just as hard to see as M1 having it. I’m terrified that I’m next in line & I really don’t want to go through it. It’s hell.

M2 seems to have escaped the flu but has a cold — a cough & a runny nose. I’m really scared of her getting this flu. It’s too easy for the wee ones to get alarmingly, hospital-requiring, dehydrated. We’ve been feeding her diluted gatorade & airborne & the echinacea ordered up from the ND’s office in hopes that she doesn’t come down with it. And back to nursing on demand in the middle of the night, since I’m fighting it, hopefully all those white blood cells get through to her too.

I’ve been queasy on & off, hot/cold flashes… sleep-deprived as I go between the members of my family making sure they have what they need. I really need to take a nap this afternoon. Forty-five minutes though, already, until I go pick up M2 from N’s. I figured it’d be a good idea to get her the heck away from the flu-y people for a bit while I wandered around with latex gloves & lysol trying to get stuff sterilized as best I can, changing bedsheets & pillow cases, picking up pjs. Laundry. Bleh.

Big suck, people. Avoid getting it.
