A Long Winter’s Nap

So Christmas was nice, aside from watching my grandparents’ slow decline into senility. M1 & M2 got enough clothes to dress an orphanage, M1 got plenty of art & project supplies, and M2 got enough trucks, cars, and trains to make any red-blooded boy green with envy (including a snazzy Lexus SC-430 — with doors, trunk, and hood that open, the steering wheel actually turns the wheels, and the wheels actually have shocks). It’s a satisfyingly *solid* car too… M2 also got a massive dump truck in which she seems to be storing her cars, trucks, and trains. Last night before falling asleep in my arms, she tucked in three of her favorite cars under a kleenex and told me “cars sleeping” in a very matter of fact way. On Christmas as I tucked M1 in I asked her what her favorite thing of the day was & she said “Seeing the smiles on the faces of my family.” Awwwwww. Then she added, “and the clothes and the toys,” as an after though after a few seconds of quiet reflection… Such a sweetie.

Now they’re running around like they’ve been cooped up all day, and so they have. I’m sleepy, again, like I have been all day.

Perhaps if I move over to spinning instead of sitting in the big comfy chair. I’m afraid if I drift back to sleep now, I’ll never get to sleep tonight… Too much on my mind.
