Tasty Tasty
Today is the perfect example of how I like to cook.
2:00: Start the sourdough croutons that’ll end up mixed with the beans.
2:30: Lightly saute the onions & garlic, add beans & leave to simmer all afternoon.
3:30: Prod the croutons.
3:45: Tear remaining angel food cake into bits & pieces, mix with pudding, cinnamon, clove for trifle (mmm. dessert).
4:00: Prod the beans & add pine nuts, butter, olive oil, salt, & pepper to the once-again-prodded croutons.
Wait. In 20 minutes or so I’ll start in on the rosemary chicken & wild-herbed-greens salad. Then at the last minute I’ll drain most of the water out of the beans & add the croutons… Mmm. Dinner.
In between all this I’ve had a little nap, changed the sheets on the bed (which takes twice as long when there’s a little munchkin that keeps climbing up on the bed & under the sheets), helped M1 with her homework (we had to find all the calendars in the house & examples of dates…). Um.
I think I did some other stuff too, but now while I wait, I realize that the overwhelming smell in my proximity is no longer tasty beans, but a certain little girl. Ew. Motherly responsiblities call.
