Researchers Track Underwater Noise Generated by December 26 Earthquake. This page contains an mp3 of 2 minutes, 20 seconds worth of the earthquake. Makes me remember being out running the morning of the Nisqually earthquake & being kind of weirded out by the sound of a garage door opening, even though I was running past the back of a house, not the front. Then a man standing with his wife outside their house shouted at me & asked if I’d “Felt It”, to which I replied, “Felt what?” He pointed at the power lines which were still swinging. I hadn’t noticed because I was running (yeah, I know, I don’t run, I slog, or I did, but I want to start again).

This mp3 totally brought the sound back. Earthquakes really *do* sound like garage doors opening. This is a wild planet we live on.
