Retrospective Vacation

It was nice. Not long enough — I could have used these last few days of the week to just hang out at home, but I don’t have that kind of vacation time lying around, unfortunately.

Yes, of course we shot off lots of fireworks. No record breaking early to late this year (last year it was 8 or 8:30am to 11:30 pm); instead we just lit them off three solid days in a row. And I do mean *solid*. Like… mmm… 10:30am - 9/10pm. I think that probably makes up for it.

The final full day we were there, P and I went up, way up, into the Colville National Forest and wandered around some of his old haunting spots. We wandered across to a trail that leads up to where he used to camp as a boy and followed it until we took a moment’s reprise to pause & ponder, only to be eaten alive by mosquitoes. Then we turned around and headed for home since we were going to be late for dinner. Oh well. It was a lovely walk, mosquitoes aside. That’s what you get for slowing down near old marshlands though…

By and large, it was very pleasant. I can’t think of anything that absolutely must be relayed beyond this though. It already seems a world away. And somehow it just isn’t something that worked into lending itself to the double awareness required to journal/blog/LJ. And that’s not particularly a bad thing.
