First Swimming Lessons!

They went swimmingly! M1 seemed to enjoy herself. She said, “I swam on my back! < aside > But y’know my teacher helped me…”

M2 & I had fun. M2’s little lips were rather on the purple side & she was v. cold (I didn’t think it was a cold pool at all, but I have a little more… padding… than she does). The instructor said next time she could wear a shirt in the pool to help keep a little warmer. She will indeed! Other than that, she thought it was pretty nifty. Her favorite part was pushing herself off the edge of the pool (about 1.5? feet above water’s edge) and I would catch her. The patty-cake game was fun too because we’d “throw” the kids “in the oven” and catch them off this really cool big floaty thing. She wasn’t as interested in chasing the toy with a “reach & pull” motion (trying to give them the idea of “swimming”) and she thought the kicking & splashing was ok the first time but wasn’t so into it the next.

They came home v. hungry caterpillars & ate their lunches, then more lunch, then part of my lunch. And then? They crashed. Swimming is wonderful. I love swimming. :)
