Conversation with M1
So M1 has had this tooth with a big chip (and hole) in it. Pretty much since it came in. It came in normal & within a few weeks part turned yellow & fell out. I think maybe she fell and smashed it on something. Nasty tooth. Anyway. Here is this morning’s conversation…
Her: I have good news & I have bad news.
Me: Yeah?
Her: Yup. My tooth fell out! That’s the good news.
Me: Good! I’m glad to hear it.
Her: The bad news is I can’t find it and I must have swallowed it, but the tooth fairy will still come and find me, right? I can make her a picture to show her what my tooth looked like and also write a letter to her so she knows, right?
Me: Yep, I bet she’d find that an acceptable substitute.
Her: Yeah. I’m so glad my tooth came out! Now I’ll be the second kid in April to have lost a tooth!
Me: That’s great!
Her: Isn’t that great? I’m so glad it came out. ISN”T THAT GREAT?
Me: Yes, that’s wonderful.
Her: I’m really happy. ARE YOU HAPPY!? (I think she thinks I’m still asleep & might have missed that her tooth finally came out)
Me: Yes! I think it’s great that your tooth finally came out.
(continues on in this vein for a while, too long…)
Her: Can I have a popsicle, because it hurts. I didn’t notice it last night, but I do now.
Me: Yes. Go get a popsicle (good maybe I can snooze a little longer).
Her: Ok. I’m going to go get a popsicle & watch some cartoons! (wandering off talking about how wonderful it is that her tooth is gone).
Madeleine: Eruckoo!
Me: (Sigh). Yes, those are the garbage trucks, Madeleine. Shall we get up and go watch them pick up garbage?
Madeleine: Eruckoo! ERUCKOO!
Me: Ok…
On the upside, I found the tooth under her pillow & am saving it for the toothfairy.
