Six Years Ago Today

I was about 11 hours away from delivering Marian. And about 47 hours into labor. Admittedly, only about 25 hours into active labor as I did manage in the first day’s worth of labor to drive my car to the autobody shop and frighten the bejeezus out of the appraiser. :D

Tomorrow at 12:11pm (by the clock on the vcr in the living room at the time), Marian will be SIX! We’ve been hearing about this for the past month or so. She’s very excited about it. Today we looked through the photo album from the time she was born until the time she was about 18 months old. It’s so hard to believe she was that little, and yet so she was. My sweet little lump is now all long dangly arms & legs. If I lift her up (when I’m feeling *really* brave, because I tend to hurt parts of me badly when I do that these days because she’s so heavy), her feet nearly touch the ground.

School is going well for her. She’s figuring out the playground thing & she’s love, love, loving the classes. Yesterday she got to go to the computer lab and draw pictures on the computer, today she got to go to the library (she thought that was very exciting — “My Own School Library!”, and the little stories bubble out of her once she’s had a chance to process them a little…

Here’s one from dinner…

M: I got to go to the library today and check out a book!
S: How exciting!
M: And we can go anytime we want!
P: When is it (due)…
M (interupting): But there is only One Bad Rule — we can’t go when it’s closed!

We still don’t really know when the book is due, either at one week or one month, it’s hard to say. Hopefully the beloved teacher will include that information in her next note home to the parents.
