Ramblings

I have a goal to get into bed at a decent hour tonight. Shut! Up! I do too! I also want to rearrange down here. Sometimes I just need a change. I’m not inspired by the cords & heavy stuff though right now. Eventually.

I just left a huge long reply in one of saltydogsal’s posts on information poverty. It was quite a lot longer than I meant for it to be. Oops.

M1 is having a Pippi Longstocking birthday party. She wanted to play pin Pippi on the bed so that her feet are on the pillow. She also wants to invite *everyone* and their dogs. I don’t have enough energy to do that. I never was a very good camp counselor type. Leading activities gives me hives. But it should be a fun party anyway. I mean, sheesh, she’s turning six (I swear I’m SO not that old! I don’t know when she got that big — and I certainly don’t know how M2 ended up being nearly 19 months because I only just had her a couple weeks ago too…).

M2 is learning words finally. She says “bye bye bye bye” when I fasten her in her car seat. She says “Bah-bahhhhhh” when P is watching baseball. She’s our child, she says “cheer!” and tries to “clink” your glass with her cup, so sweetly. Cheers was one of Marian’s first words too, though Uncle A taught M1. Jaina & M1 & M2 & I were having a tea party when we first heard her say “cheer!” And of course “Ma-ma-ma-ma” (which forever was MEM-MEM-MEM-MEM!) and Dada. I swear on Saturday morning she tried to say “Mamamawake” (Mom I’m awake), but I dunno, it’s hard to say. Much like tonight she tried to say good night — “oo ayt”. I think some of the late wordage is because it’s virtually impossible to get a word in edgewise with M1 around, and even more impossible to be heard over her on occasion… Hmm. What else, oh, she says book “buh!” and she LOVES to be read to. The first few times she said “buh!” to me were mornings and she’d grabbed Virginia Woolf’s Three Guinneas and A Room of Her Own off the bookshelf by my bed & thrust them in my face. She has the sweetest little voice. I’m sure some day she’ll be competing in volume and quantity with M1, but for now, so sweet…

K. This is me going to try to be good & log off. I’m hoping to take something other than a 10 minute, rinse-the-day’s-grime-off bath. I don’t know when the last time was that I got to sit and enjoy a bath… but we’ll see. M2 is notorious for screaming when I turn the water off… < crossing fingers >
