The husband is baking brownies (no, just the plain kind with walnuts) & listening to Gord’s Gold. The brownies smell so good. And he just brought me a cup of jasmine dragon-pearl tea. Mmmmmmmm.

I spent a long time working on the 540 project, mocked up 7 more pages and making changes, adjustments, etc yesterday & today I’m trying to put together a paper that *I* will feel okay about, even if the instructor disses it. Which at this point, I’m pretty much expecting to happen. THEN going back to the 540 project because there is a crap load left to do & there are still adjustments & changes to be made to the mocks.

Got a little goofy with the mock ups yesterday (it’s for a music dB) and ended up using Spinal Tap for as many of my examples as possible. What better though for MOCKING.

We went to the nursery this morning. Paul got some garden filler so we can eat home grown stuff, tomatoes, bell peppers, I tried to get him to buy a habanero pepper that we could make the [my brother’s name here] Memorial Habanero plant, but I don’t think he got one. Oh, ok, some basil (cuz you can’t grow tomatoes without basil, right?), a curry plant (not real curry, but smells like it. I love that plant!). Seems to me we got something else foodwise too, but I can’t remember what now. Oh, a pumpkin plant for The Girls(tm). Um. Peas. Thyme (can never have too much thyme on your side). We had to put all the plants on the bottom part of the cart because M2 kept turning around, sticking her finger in the dirt, then “tasting” the dirt. P says in a panicked voice to me “What’s that around her mouth?” Good fresh black DIRT. That’s my girl.

We got flowers for Marian to plant, marigolds, pansies, and some other pretty FLOWER flowers, oh, a geranium cuz they smell so good, some other pretty flowers. Her favorite part was the pond with the carp. It was beautiful. Even if we could get a pond with carp, there’s a racoon around here with an ass wider than my cats are long & I’m sure he’d feast on them as an appetizer before going and bullying the local outdoor pets out of their lunch & dinner money.

I got claw feet holders for an ancent cedar box planter that we got when we were first married. P put in a new deck this spring with tax returns. It’s too pretty for me to want to set it down directly on there… and it’ll make it look a little more finished. Nah, really? I just liked the idea of claws coming out from under it. There were bare feet holders too. They were funny! I also got another carnivorous plant. The venus flytraps didn’t do so well last year, so I’m trying a saracella or something. They’re these elegantly beautiful tube-kind of shaped plants. We’ll see. I’d love to have some kind of bug eating plant around in the fall to help with the fruit flies that dig our scabbed pear tree… (poor tree). Oh, and a couple packages of suet, which the crows will no doubt hog, but maybe the sparrow family will find it too. I wish I had a better place in back to hang it.

Oy. My poor yard is so neglected. It’s kind of pretty wild, with the daisies and columbine & various lilies & irises, but I see looking out my back window a dandilion (or relative anyway) in the ground next to one of the gone-wild-climbing roses. It stands high as my shoulder. Yeah, I know I’m short, but still, I swear that thing stands four feet high. My three climbing roses all stand taller than P. I need to get them trellises.

My brain is frizzled. I think of changing html code on the mock ups so they look even better & whimper. I think of [pre-coordinate & post-coordinate & ennumerative & synthetic & hierarchy & equivalency & related] terms, & scopes & thesauri & stuff & listen to my neurons go *snap* *crackle* *pop*! When the baby wakes up I’m going to shirk my responsibilites for just a little bit because I just realized that gosh, I have a group chat tonight at six, right as the roast will be ready to eat. Yay for eating french dip sammaches in front of the freaking computer and STILL doing school work. That does it. I’m gonna go wake the baby up & go outside a bit. Maybe the fresh air will help clear my head. (YOU there. Stop laughing!).

All I really want is a nap. And I’m about as likely to get that today as I am a beautiful house on a beautiful island & a good job to go with it.
